NEWSLETTER MAY 1, 2000 ANNUAL MEETING The 84th Annual Meeting for Cairo Coop has been scheduled for Friday, May 5th in the Cunningham School Gymnasium with the evening meal beginning at 6:00 PM. Ron Hanson from the University of Nebraska is the featured after-dinner speaker. The business meeting will follow. See you there. Thank you for another successful year.
CAIRO COOP WEB SITE You can finally reach us via The Internet! Our Web Page is located at www.cairocoop.com and our e-mail address is [email protected]. Although we are updating our grain prices @ 2:00 PM daily on the internet, we will NOT buy grain or take fertilizer orders via the internet. Please contact us in person or on the phone for such requests. We hope to add more to our web site like manager comments or this newsletter as time permits and as we become more efficient using it.
WHEAT TOP-DRESSING This last fertilizer season was a challenge, to say the least. First it was too dry in some areas to top-dress and then suddenly it became too wet almost everywhere. The farmers that went ahead and fertilized last fall probably got the most for their money. Unfortunately for us, the airplanes got to have a wheat top-dressing season. Although we have received the required paperwork from all the aerial applicators, we have not received all the acres and divisions from you producers. Any wheat fertilizer/chemical applied, but NOT divided by May 20th will be billed out entirely to the producer. Please give this information to Jim at Cairo as soon as possible.
SEED Although most of the corn is planted, we still have some NC+, Asgrow & Dekalb corn seed along with Mycogen, NC+, Asgrow & Dekalb milo seed and Asgrow, Dekalb, Midwest & Stine soybean seed. The prices per bag for open-pollinated seeds are as follows: Early Sumac.......................$13.00 Select German Millet......................$11.50 Kansas Orange.................... 14.00 Yellow Blossom Clover...................19.00 Hegari...................................12.50 Grazex II Hybrid Sudan...................12.00 Freemont...............................12.00 Grazex II White Hybrid Sudan........13.50 Sugar Drip.............................23.50 Canex Hybrid Sumac.......................21.00 Sweet Red Cane (Sterile)......21.75 Canex Hybrid Sumac II....................17.00 V. P. Kane King....................23.50 Canex 50/50 Hybrid Sumac.............16.00 Sweet Chief...........................13.50 RFD While the RFD (Refined Fuel Distribution) Program has taken off with some CoMark Coops, it is slower getting started at Cairo. We must have 75% of the budgeted fuel volume on-line before Country Energy will release the fuel trucks to make deliveries. This means not only having Patrons signed up but also having the monitors & controllers installed. The RFD truck started making deliveries to Garden Plain Producers today and will soon be delivering to Cheney and Conway Springs Producers. This program will benefit you Producers with lower fuel costs, always having fuel on hand and paying for fuel as you use it. If your account number is 77406, contact the Cairo Office by May 12 to claim your prize. Please contact Mike or Darrel at Preston or Chuck or Kevin at Penalosa to learn more information and get started on this RFD Program.
